Clay work is an enjoyable challenge that encourages change and growth. The theme of recreating a
birch-like surface using clay to show a bark effect has been an interesting exchange in natural materials.
I’m finding a variety of ways to use the “birch” idea, like people have done for centuries. Developing ways
to mimmick patterns and textures in tree bark as vessel designs respectfully reminds me of people using
natural materials for to create functional objects for centuries.
