Hi, I’m Laura Barisonzi, a New York and Los Angeles photographer and director who strives to tell stories with emotion and action. My style is based on the beauty of real people and natural movement rather than stiff poses. To be a photographer and director means that I can previsualize, I have a concept in mind, I engage and direct whoever is behind the camera whether they are a real person or an experienced model.
My goal is to understand the strategy behind every creative brief. I do the work before the shoot. My team works seamlessly and is in constant movement, working to create beautiful and dramatic light with technical precision. I believe in consistency. I have worked with many of my collaborators for over a decade. I am a nerd for lighting and cameras and am constantly testing and developing new technical approaches. I don’t outsource my lighting direction, I am an expert at lighting and grip.
Cycling, running, climbing, tennis, and swimming help me have the energy to keep the production at full speed for every one of those 14 hour days on set. My passion for every element of production from locations, gear, casting all the way to retouching means my team will put years of experience and planning into every element of your shoot. I speak Spanish and Mandarin Chinese in case your production involves travel. I studied at Brown University and RISD.
